Hi, I'm Sarah

I live in Melbourne, and I make funny t-shirts about the Australia I actually recognise.

Destination Gifts started during Covid, the way a lot of things did — as a side hustle and a way to fill the time. But the real origin goes back further. For years, whenever a mate said something funny, my response was the same: "There's a t-shirt in that." I said it enough times that eventually not making the shirts started to feel like the weird choice. So I did.

These days it's a proper little store, but the idea hasn't changed: designs that make you laugh, or at least do a double-take. The stuff you'd actually quote — Kath & Kim, The Castle, Aussie slang, and the political moments too good not to put on a chest — plus the sport we can't help ourselves with. AFL, the Matildas, tennis. I barrack for the Cats (yes, I make the other 17 clubs' shirts too — I'm a professional), and if you've ever worn your team's colours to work on Grand Final week, you're my people.

By day I work in media, and I've got a soft spot for photography and travel — which is probably why I care a bit too much about how a design actually looks, not just whether the gag lands. Before any of this was a shop, I was making one-off shirts for friends' birthdays. Not much has changed, except now more than five people can buy them.

It's just me here. I come up with the designs, I run the shop, and if you email, it'll be me who replies — probably slower than a big brand, but you'll be talking to an actual person who cares whether you like the thing.

The boring-but-important bits

Every design is created here in Australia. Shirts are printed to order on quality cotton using DTG printing, which means less waste and no warehouse full of stuff nobody bought. I print through local partners in Australia, the UK, the US and Europe, so wherever you are — expats included — it ships from close by.
